SUBJECTS: Veterans’ Access Network (VAN) offices, Veterans’ services in Newcastle
PAUL TURTON: I think most people would agree it is right to treat our veterans with respect and most recently evident when the nation pauses to mark Armistice Day- last Friday, of course. You might be aware though of possible changes to the way veterans receive support services, with the possible closure of the Veterans’ Access Network office in Newcastle. While the Government has given assurances that this service will continue for the foreseeable future, there is still concern about how long that actually means. Amanda Rishworth is the Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and is in the Hunter today to meet with veterans. Amanda thanks for coming in by the way.
