Labor welcomes the announcement of the expansion of the Gold Card to include South East Asia Treaty Organisation (SEATO) Nurses and Medical Teams.
It is important that we support those who have served our nation, and we are pleased that the Government has chosen to do so notwithstanding the Productivity Commission’s draft report stated;
“It is the Commission’s view that eligibility for the Gold Card should not be expanded to any new categories of veterans or dependants that are not currently eligible for such a card.” (p.33)
