SUBJECT/S: Veterans Mental Health, Veterans’ Employment, Veterans Homelessness, Labor’s commitment to develop a Family Engagement Strategy
STEVE PRICE: On Monday’s program I spoke with Martin Shaw, the voluntary CEO of wounded heroes. Now we have spoken to Martin a couple of times, I spoke to him when I was filling in for Alan Jones on breakfast, and I have spoken to him on the night programs around Australia. They are a national community organisation, they have been established to support Australian servicemen and women and their families. There are some dreadfully sad stories that they have to deal with. They are the only chairyt that provides immediate frontline support for veterans- particularly in Queensland and their families in times of financial crisis. Now, I am going to speak with the Federal Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, the Labor Member from South Australia, Amanda Rishworth, she has been kind enough to join us tonight. I just want to play for you and Amanda as well a little of what Martin said about one of his recent cases.
